Falcons defeat their rivals on the road

In the latest installment of the “Battle of I-75” Saturday, the Bowling Green State University Falcons defeated the Toledo Rockets 41-26 in front of 29,697 raucous fans at the Glass Bowl Stadium. The Falcons used a solid running game 215 total yards led by Terion Stewart’s 99 yards (1 td) on 21 carries to stop Toledo from winning back-to-back games in the series. Stewart’s lone touchdown opened the day’s scoring as BG scored on 3 of their first 4 drives, they never trailed in the contest. Toledo tried to counter with a potent passing game. Jerjuan Newton had a career day tallying 164 yards on 9 receptions with two going for scores. With those td receptions he became Toledo’s career leader in that category. Tucker Gleason threw for 320 yards and those two TDs to Newton but they were offset with two interceptions. In a hard fought contest, the defining moment came with approximately 1 minute left in the first half as BG’s Jordan Oladokun intercepted Gleason returning it 61 yards for a score. The Rockets dropped to 2-2 in the MAC and 5-3 overall while Bowling Green improves to 3-1 in conference and 4-4 overall.
