Quarterback duo leads Butler to season opening victory

Indianapolis, Ind

Quarterbacks Nick Howard and Andrew Reagan combined for 214 passing yards and 4 touchdowns while adding 86 yards with two scores on the ground to lead the Bulldogs to a convincing 40-7 victory in game one. Upper Iowa a division 2 team were no match for a Butler whose depth proved to be too much as they liberally subbed on this hot Saturday afternoon. Defensively the Bulldogs limited Peacock quarterback Darryl Overstreet to 131 yards in the air and three interceptions with only one TD. That lone score for Upper Iowa came after a Butler turnover when Overstreet hit tight end Eddie Burgess for 23 yards in the second quarter. After that score Reagan connected with Luke Wooten for a 70-yards putting Butler ahead 19-7 at intermission. The Bulldogs rolled in the second half outscoring Upper Iowa 21-0.
