Wright State bests Oakland in road win

2/25/24 Rochester, Michigan

The Wright State Raiders (17-12, 12-6 Horizon) using runs to open both halves of the contest 18-9 in the 1st half and 14-2 in the 2nd half competed then pulled away from the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (19-11, 14-5 Horizon) for the 96-75 win. Alex Huibregtse led five players in double figures for the Raiders with 21 points that included five three-pointers. Complementing his parameter output was Brandon Noel’s 19 points and 16 rebounds. Even with Wright State opening the game hot, the host Golden Grizzlies were able to fight back from the early deficit to take a one-point lead into the half 38-37. The duo of DQ Cole 18 points and Tre Townsend 14 points and 14 rebounds weren’t enough to keep Oakland in the game versus Wright State’s balanced attack. Even with Saturday’s setback the Grizzlies have a share of the conference title and with a win versus Detroit Mercy on 3/2/24.
