Rockets open MAC play with a win

10/6/2024 Toledo, OH

On a pristine day the Toledo Rockets defeated the Miami Redhawks 30-20 in front of over 25,000 at the Glass Bowl for homecoming. Toledo’s Tucker Gleason threw for 318 yards and two scores while adding a third on the ground as the Rocket’s controlled the game from beginning to end. The Rocket’s scored on their first drive of the day as Gleason crossed the goal line for the one-yard dive. Toledo’s next score came after an Avery Smith blocked punt on a three play drive. Gleason connected with Jerjuan Newton for the score and the Rockets never looked back. Miami’s Bret Gabbert threw for 296 yards and 2 scores with Javon Tracy hauling in ten of those for 119 yards and a td. The Redhawks could never really get on track after falling behind and a late score with approximately five minutes left gave the illusion of a closer game. Toledo ascends to 4-1 and 1-0 in the MAC while Miami falls to 1-4 (0-1). Next up Miami travels to Eastern Michigan while Toledo heads to Buffalo.
