A strong second half propels the Rockets to victory

Toledo, OH 2/15/25

                The Akron Zips came into Savage Arena with an upset bid in mind. Led by freshman Ni’Rah Clark’s 16 point and 4 rebound effort Akron led 16-12 after the first quarter with Toledo rallying to tie the game by halftime. A quartet of Rockets fueled a second half surge that led to Toledo outscoring Akron by 10 in the third quarter and 11 in the final stanza. Khera Goss and Sammi Mikonowicz led the way with 16 points apiece while Nan Garcia and Kendall Carruthers 13 & 10 respectively. It was a strong team effort by Toledo as their bench out-scored Akron’s 29-10 as the Rockets won 75-54. The Rockets improve to 9-3 (18-5 overall) in MAC play while the Zips fall to 3-9 in conference (9-16 overall).
