Lovejoy’s Double double leads Eastern Michigan to victory

12/30/23

A 17-point, 10 rebound effort by sophomore Orlando Lovejoy aided by 15 points from Yusuf Jihad led the Eagles of Eastern Michigan to a 67-64 win over a feisty division 2 Northwood Timberwolves. Northwood junior Jaylen Hodges led the way for the Timberwolves with 16 points before bowing out with an apparent ankle injury in the second half. His tenacity helped Northwood take a 24-22 lead in the 1st half until EMU rallied going up 31-30 at intermission. Eastern Michigan controlled the second half even going up by as many as 8 points before a late run by Northwood cut the lead to 65-64. After two made free throws by the Eagles there weren’t any late game heroics left as the Timberwolves lost by 3.
