MT. UNION is too much for alfred State defeating the pioneers 56-14

#2 Mount Union used a strong first quarter to thwart any intention Alfred State had to win in a NCAA Division III 1st round playoff game at Kehres Stadium. Mount Union opened up the scoring with Braxton Plunk’s 13yd toss to receiver Tyrell Sanders. Alfred State wasn’t fazed answering back with a 20yd touchdown reception by Jazir Francios from Justin Horvath. The Purple Raiders of MU would score the next three touchdowns of the 1st quarter taking a 28-7 lead. Alfred State would score their second touchdown and last points of the contest when Horvath threw a 20yd strike to Ben Ba. Horvath finished the game 12-28 for 117yds and the two scores. Jake Palmer aided Horvath with a strong rushing performance carrying 12 times for 90yds for the pioneers. Mount Union’s offense had a balanced attack being led by a trio of rushers with Senior DeAndre Parker leading the way with 131yds and a touchdown Tyler Echeverry (76yds, 1td) and Darnell Williams (74yds) added to the total. MU rushed for 291yds on the day. Senior Braxton Plunk had a great day throwing for 336yds and 4tds with Wayne Ruby Jr. being his favorite target with 8 catches for 156yds and two touchdowns. Defensively MU held Alfred State to 291 total yards also sacking them 5 times. Mason McMillen led Mount with 13 tackles while his counterpart from Alfred State Silas Egenlauf tallied the most with 17 total tackles.
